After My Graduation

After my graduation from William and Mary, I started fighting in the Continental Army and serving in the Battle Of Trenton. During those battles, I got shot in my left shoulder, I knew I should have been more cautious. Right after my military services, I started to practice law in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

My Family

My father's name was Spence Monroe and he was a woodworker and a tobacco farmer, my mother was Elizabeth Jones Monroe. My mother had significant land holdings but we had very little money. I went to school at Campbelltown Academy and later went to the College of William and Mary. I then graduated for William and Mary in 1776.

My Personal Information

I, James Monroe, was born on April 28, 1758 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Although I am usually quiet, dignified, and honest. I love to dress in an old fashion. I was married to my darling Elizabeth Kortright on Febraury 16, 1786. Here is a picture of myself that someone painted for me, if I do say for myself, I look rather dashing!
